Risk of Rain 2 is a third-person roguelike shooter from Hopoo Games. You crash on an alien planet and fight through a dozen handcrafted stages while a clock pushes difficulty steadily upward, picking up items from a pool of more than 110 whose effects stack into combinations that can carry a run or end it. Eleven survivors each play differently, artifacts rewrite the rules, and up to four players can take it on together online.
Risk of Rain 2 has a dedicated server build, and using one takes the host out of the equation. No single player is carrying the session on a home connection, so the lobby does not close when one person leaves, and friends can drop into a run whenever they are free rather than waiting for the same person to start it. Items, artifacts, difficulty and any installed mods are set once on the server, which keeps every run in the lobby consistent.
