Factorio: Space Age is the official expansion for Factorio that extends the factory-building experience across multiple planets. Players launch rockets to establish bases on alien worlds, each with unique environments, resources, and hazards. Space platforms serve as orbital factories and logistics hubs, and new production chains require coordinating resources between planets. It builds on the Factorio 2.0 update with improved graphics and quality-of-life features.
A dedicated Space Age server is especially valuable because the multi-planetary scope means there is always work to be done across different worlds. Keeping the server running 24/7 lets different players manage different planets or space platforms at their own pace, building a collaborative interplanetary logistics network. The increased computational demands of simulating multiple planets simultaneously also benefits from dedicated hardware rather than a player-hosted session.

From there, you get the same full-featured Factorio hosting: mod installation via the mods folder with automatic mod updates, save file uploads through the file manager, admin management, password protection, and version control. Factorio: Space Age is available on Steam, Windows standalone, and macOS. It requires the base Factorio game and integrates with the full mod ecosystem on the Factorio Mods Portal. All existing Factorio guides for connecting, installing mods, adding admins, and uploading saves apply to Space Age servers as well.
