Vintage Story is a deep survival sandbox game focused on realistic crafting, agriculture, and progression through different ages of civilization. Players gather resources, knap stone tools, learn metalworking through multi-step smelting processes, farm crops with seasonal mechanics, raise animals, and explore dangerous underground caverns. The game prioritizes immersion and complexity, with crafting systems that model real-world processes far more closely than typical survival games.
Running a dedicated Vintage Story server lets your community build a persistent settlement where players can specialize in different crafts and contribute on their own schedules. The depth of the game's systems, including farming cycles, animal husbandry, and multi-step crafting chains, makes persistent availability especially valuable. A dedicated server also gives you full control over world generation, seasons, climate, and server configuration through the serverconfig.json file.
Game Host Bros offers Vintage Story hosting with full mod support and free server transfers. Mods are installed by uploading .zip files to the data/Mods folder, and mod configuration is handled through JSON files in the data/ModConfig folder. Server settings are managed via the serverconfig.json file, and you can upload existing worlds by placing your .vcdbs save file in the data/Saves folder. Server name, version, admin management, whitelist, password, and public server visibility are all configurable. We also support console commands for in-game administration. Our servers run on AMD Ryzen 9 9950X and EPYC processors with NVMe storage across 8 global locations.
Vintage Story is available as a standalone Windows application (not on Steam). The game has a thriving modding community with mods available from the official Vintage Story mod database. Guides cover connecting, configuring via serverconfig.json, installing mods, uploading saves, adding admins, setting passwords, managing the whitelist, and making your server public.
