'83 is a 40 versus 40 tactical first person shooter from Blue Dot Games, set in 1983 as the Cold War between NATO and the Warsaw Pact turns hot across Europe. Matches run 30 to 40 minutes and are built around squads capturing objectives, supported by infantry, transport vehicles, tanks and called in fire missions. Each side has a Commander directing the effort through an RTS style metagame layer. The team includes developers from the Red Orchestra and Rising Storm series, and the design goal they describe as accessible realism keeps era authentic weapon handling and lethality while cutting the downtime between deaths and the next fight.
An eighty player match is a serious piece of infrastructure, and that is precisely why a dedicated '83 server matters. Community servers are where clans set the map rotation, enforce squad discipline, run scheduled event nights and keep an admin roster that knows the regulars. Running your own also means you decide the faction balance rules and round settings rather than accepting whatever the public rotation is doing, and your players always know which address to join.
