Battlefield 2 is the modern combined-arms shooter DICE released in 2005, and the Special Forces expansion that followed added night raids, zip lines and grappling hooks. Up to 64 players fight for control points on maps like Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Dragon Valley and Wake Island 2007, with tanks, jets, helicopters and boats on the same battlefield. Squads, a commander with artillery and supply drops, and seven soldier classes made teamwork the whole point, and two decades later its community still fills servers every night.
A dedicated Battlefield 2 server is how that community plays. It stays online around the clock with your own name, welcome message and map rotation, so your squad and regulars can join whenever they like. You choose Conquest or Co-op against bots, the maps and their order, the ticket count, respawn time and friendly fire, and run it for the base game or Special Forces.
