Dead Matter is an open-world zombie survival game in Early Access from QI Games, set in the Kananaskis valley of Alberta after a virus turns its victims into ravenous husks. You scavenge the plains and mountain towns of Canmore and Banff for supplies, manage hunger, thirst and infected wounds, and craft what you need in the field from scraps, bandages from cotton or a baseball bat studded with nails. The infected are dangerous mainly in numbers and gunfire draws them, so noise discipline decides most encounters. Alongside solo play it runs online multiplayer with both co-op and PvP, and the survivor settlement Dominion hands out paid mercenary work.

Dead Matter is a game about a group slowly staking out territory in a very large map, and that only works when the map is still there the next evening.
