GROUND BRANCH is a deliberately slow, unforgiving tactical shooter built by BlackFoot Studios, whose founder worked on the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. You play the CIA Special Activities Center's paramilitary arm on deniable operations, and the True First-Person system means the camera sits at your character's eyes and rounds leave the actual muzzle, so a foot left outside cover can be seen and shot, and height over bore matters when you are working a corner. Loadouts are customised down to individual pouches and rail attachments, with encumbrance and stamina penalising anyone who overpacks. It runs 8-player co-op and 8v8 adversarial modes, with 3D positional voice and team radio built in rather than bolted on.

GROUND BRANCH has no matchmaking culture to speak of, which is exactly why it lives on community servers. A dedicated server is where a unit sets its own map rotation, mission types and AI count, keeps a persistent address that members join every week, and enforces the rules of engagement a milsim group actually plays by. It is also the practical way to run training nights on the shooting ranges and killhouse, since the server stays available for whoever turns up rather than closing when one player leaves.
