Rooted
Rooted is an Unreal Engine 5 survival game from Headlight Studio set around the year 2100, after bacteriological warfare collapsed civilisation. Nature has reclaimed and slowly cleaned much of the countryside, while urban areas remain contaminated and need protective gear to enter. You salvage scrap and abandoned objects, restore what you can, craft what you cannot, and build a camp in a forest, a village or the ruins of a city block. It can be played alone or cooperatively, with in game voice chat and optional friendly fire.
Rooted expects you to keep expanding: defences, electricity, automated tasks, a workshop, and secondary outposts closer to the salvage runs that matter. A dedicated Rooted server keeps that whole network of camps standing between sessions and lets teammates join whenever they like rather than waiting for one particular person to be online. For a game where travel distances are long, having outposts persist is what makes the exploration loop work.
