Silica is a crossover between first person shooter and real time strategy, published by Bohemia Interactive and set on the desert planet Baltarus. One player takes the commander seat and runs base building, harvesters and unit production from a top-down view, while everyone else fights on the ground or in the air under those orders. Human and alien factions play very differently, and a single match can scale from an infantry skirmish to combined arms warfare with tanks, aircraft and colossal harvesters on the field at once.
Silica asks a lot of whatever machine simulates the battle, because the commander layer keeps every unit on the map active at the same time. Putting Silica on a dedicated server gives that simulation its own hardware instead of sharing a player's game client, and it means the match no longer ends when the commander leaves. Your settings, faction rules and map choice stay fixed, so a squad can drop in and start a round at any hour without rebuilding the lobby first.
Silica servers at Game Host Bros will run on AMD Ryzen 9 9950X processors with NVMe storage. There will be 14 global server locations to choose from, and the control panel will give you full file access to the server configuration along with a live console, scheduled tasks and automatic backups. Enterprise-grade DDoS protection is included, and free migrations are available if your server currently lives elsewhere.
Silica is in Early Access on Steam for Windows and ships with dedicated server tools, so hosted servers show up in the in-game browser. It covers PvP between human and alien teams as well as co-operative matches against AI, which makes it a sensible server to leave running for a mixed community.
