Cenozoic Era
The Cenozoic Era is a multiplayer animal survival game set after the dinosaurs, during the rise of mammals. You take control of a creature, grow it from a juvenile into an adult, and fight for a place in the food chain against other players doing the same. Dynamic seasons and temperature mean freezing winters and summer heat both have to be managed, predators hunt while scavengers pick over the remains, and death sends you back to the beginning or to a different animal entirely. Sandbox mode removes permadeath for practice, Survival mode does not.
Servers here are unusually configurable, and the community splits sharply between strict realism and relaxed play. Running your own dedicated Cenozoic Era server is how you settle that question for your group: you set growth rates, breeding and mutation rules, whether unusual skin colours are allowed and how strictly the food chain is enforced, then attract players who want the same experience. Persistence matters just as much, because a creature grown over several weeks should not disappear because a session ended.
