The Ranchers is a country life sim for one to four players, set in an open world sandbox and published by Trophy Games. You leave the city behind, buy a patch of land and turn it into a working ranch: raise chickens, rabbits, goats and cows, plant and irrigate crops, craft fences, sprinklers and greenhouses at the workbench, then decorate the house however you like. Water and electricity cost money, so you sign contracts or build wells, wind turbines and solar panels and sell the surplus back to the village.
A ranch is a long term project, and the villagers keep sending daily orders whether or not your friends happen to be online. Hosting The Ranchers on a dedicated server means the farm exists independently of any one player, so somebody can log in for twenty minutes to water the greenhouse or feed the animals and everyone benefits. It also removes the usual peer-to-peer problem where progress freezes the moment the original host stops playing.
