Unreal is the first-person shooter Epic MegaGames and Digital Extremes released in May 1998, and Unreal Gold bundles it with the Return to Na Pali expansion. You wake up as Prisoner 849 on a crashed prison ship and fight your way across the planet Na Pali, through Nali villages, Skaarj fortresses and vast open skies, with weapons like the Dispersion Pistol, the ASMD and the Eightball. Its multiplayer brought Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill and DarkMatch, and its cooperative mode lets a group play the whole campaign together.
A dedicated Unreal server is how that group stays together. It stays online around the clock with your own name and message of the day, so friends can pick up the campaign where they left off or drop in for a match whenever they like. You pick the game type and starting map, set the monster difficulty for co-op all the way up to OldUnreal's Nightmare and Ultra-Unreal levels, and add bots at the skill level you want for deathmatch.
