About
Windward Horizon
Windward Horizon is Tasharen Entertainment's open world naval RPG and the sequel to Windward, which arrived on Steam in 2015. You begin as an unaffiliated captain on a procedurally generated map that is different in every campaign, then choose how to make a living: run trade routes, take faction quests, fish, dive for treasure or simply sail. Ships are fully customisable, from nimble schooners to frigates and brigantines, and levelling feeds talent trees split across defence, offence and support that you can mix freely. Crew, mates and captains can be recruited to broaden what your vessel can do.
What makes a Windward Horizon server interesting is that the world reacts. Towns and provinces need supplies to grow, faction leaders pursue their own agendas, and backing one of them can shift control of a province without a shot being fired. Those consequences are far more satisfying on a server that stays up, because the trade you ran on Tuesday still shows in the province on Friday. A hosted world also lets a crew play at different hours and keeps the shared map alive rather than resetting around one host's session.
