Wreckfest 2 is Bugbear's full contact racer, published by THQ Nordic, built on a rebuilt version of the soft body physics engine the studio has been refining since FlatOut. Cars are old, dented and held together with patches, and the point is that they come apart: component level damage means panels, suspension and drivetrain degrade as you trade paint. The Early Access build ships with racing, derby and multiplayer modes across high speed circuits, obstacle courses with jumps and oncoming traffic, and demolition arenas, with a revamped career mode and skill based matchmaking planned during the Early Access period.
Public matchmaking decides what you race and who you race it with. A dedicated Wreckfest 2 server hands that back to you, so a league can lock in a track rotation, set damage and lap rules, run derby nights on a schedule and keep the lobby password protected for regulars. It also gives a community one consistent address to return to, which matters for a game where most of the fun comes from racing the same people often enough to hold a grudge.
