How To Upload A Custom Map To Your Rust Server

Want to explore new terrains on your Rust server? This easy-to-follow guide will show you how to add a custom map to your Rust server.

Here's how to download and play a custom map on your Rust server. You can find custom maps from a website such as lone.design.

Note

Before proceeding do the following:

  • In the contents of your downloaded map folder, find its .map file.
  • Upload the .map file to Dropbox.
  • On Dropbox, select your uploaded .map file, then select Share → Settings → Anyone with the link can view. Then click Create and copy link, and save this link for later.

Installing Oxide And RustEdit

Oxide is a modding framework, and RustEdit is a required extension for further customization of Rust maps, your server must have these installed to play Custom Maps.

    Download RustEdit and extract the downloaded archive.

    Access the Game Host Bros Panel and Stop your Rust server.

    Go to File Manager.
  4. 4
    Navigate to /RustDedicated_Data/Managed and Upload Oxide.Ext.RustEdit.dll.

    In the sidebar, go to Server Options.

    Under Modding Frameworks select oxide or oxide-staging.
  7. 7
    Start your server.

Before switching to a custom map, we recommend performing a Map Wipe or Full Wipe.

Installing A Custom Map

After installing Oxide and RustEdit, here's how to add a custom map to your Rust server.

    Log into the Game Host Bros Panel and Stop your Rust server.

    In the sidebar, go to Server Options.

    Find Custom Map URL.
  4. 4
    Paste in the Dropbox download URL to your .map file, in the URL make sure dl=0 is set to dl=1.

    Start your server.
Note

Make sure to select your .map file on Dropbox, then select Share → Settings → Anyone with the link can view.

In your download URL ensure dl=0 is set to dl=1.

Ensure your download URL directly downloads only the required .map file.
