Creating Databases

Many game server plugins use a MySQL database to store data. This guide covers creating a database, importing existing data, and exporting a copy through Bropanel.

Creating A Database

   Select your server in Bropanel and go to Databases.

   Click New Database.

   Enter a Database Name and choose the Allowed Connections: Any IP address, or Specific IP address with the IP allowed to connect.

   Click Create Database.

Copy the database name, host, username, and password shown on the database card into your plugin's configuration. Use the full database name shown in Bropanel, which includes a server prefix. Refer to your plugin's documentation for the configuration file and required fields.

Exporting A Database

Export your database before replacing its data, deleting it, or moving to another server.

   Load Bropanel, select your server, and go to Databases.

   Click Export and select the database you want to download.

The export downloads as a .sql.gz file.

Importing Into A New Database

Use this to bring over a database from another host or restore an exported copy into a new database. You need an available database slot and a .sql or .sql.gz file up to 100 MB.

   Load Bropanel, select your server, and go to Databases.

   Click Import and select New database if Import into is shown.

   Enter a Database Name and choose the Allowed Connections.

   Drop your file into the upload area or select it with Browse Files.

Importing Into An Existing Database

   Select your server in Bropanel and go to Databases.

   Click Import and select the existing database under Import into.

   Drop a .sql or .sql.gz file into the upload area or select it with Browse Files.

   Click Erase & Import.

If An Import Fails

The import window shows the error and, when available, the SQL line where it stopped. Fix the reported problem before trying again.

• New database: Bropanel removes the database created for the failed import. Retry with the corrected file.
• Existing database: If the import fails after erasing the database, it may contain only part of the imported data. Keep your game server stopped and import your saved export to restore it. A file rejected before replacement starts leaves the existing data unchanged.

Use a SQL dump exported by your database tool. For a .zip or other archive, extract the .sql file first. Bropanel accepts .sql.gz directly. If an import still fails or your file exceeds the upload limit, contact support for help.

Reset A Database Password

   Select your server in Bropanel and go to Databases.

   Click the reset password icon on the database card.

   Click Reset Password.

Update every plugin configuration that uses the old password.

Using the JDBC Connection String

The database card's Connection String button copies a MySQL connection URL. If your plugin accepts this format, you can paste it into its configuration.

Java plugins that require a JDBC URL need a different format, such as jdbc:mysql://HOST:3306/DATABASE. Replace HOST and DATABASE with the values shown in Bropanel, and provide the username and password as your plugin's documentation specifies.
