Portal Knights
Portal Knights is a co-operative sandbox action RPG from Keen Games. You pick a Warrior, Mage or Ranger, level a talent tree, craft weapons and armour, and fight in real time against enemies whose strengths and weaknesses reward picking the right spell or blade. Portals connect dozens of randomly generated islands full of caves, lakes and dungeons, and between quest lines, Greatbeast boss fights and roaming world events you can build almost anything from the materials you dig up.
Four players share a world in online co-op, and a dedicated Portal Knights server keeps that world reachable whether or not the person who started it is at their PC. For a group spread across time zones this is the difference between one steady castle project and four half finished saves, since shared builds, private islands and quest progress all live on the server rather than on somebody's desktop.
