Half-Life 2: Deathmatch runs on the Source engine, which means a far larger console than the original Half-Life. Alongside the usual mp_ and sv_ settings you get physics variables, the gravity gun rules and the sk_ skill values that set weapon damage.
Search the full list below, then add what you need to your Half-Life 2: Deathmatch server. Each entry shows the default value, what it does and whether it runs on the server or the client.

How to Use HL2DM Server Commands
The Source engine reads hl2mp/cfg/server.cfg when the server starts and on every map change.
- 1Log in to Bropanel and select your HL2DM server.
- 2In the sidebar, open
Files. - 3Open
hl2mp/cfg/server.cfg. - 4Add one command per line, such as
mp_timelimit 30. - 5Save the file and restart your server.
Note the cfg folder in that path. Half-Life 1 reads valve/server.cfg with no cfg folder, which trips up a lot of people moving between the two. The config files guide covers the rest.

Physics and Gravity Gun Settings
HL2DM is built around physics props, so these matter more here than in most shooters.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
physcannon_mega_enabled | Turns the supercharged gravity gun on. |
physcannon_maxmass | Heaviest object the gravity gun can pick up. |
physcannon_tracelength | How far the gravity gun reaches. |
sv_turbophysics | Cheaper physics simulation. Reduces server load. |
props_break_max_pieces | Caps how many pieces a broken prop makes. |
phys_pushscale | Multiplier on how hard physics pushes players. |
Search physcannon or phys_ in the list above to see the rest with their defaults.
