Got a cheater or a troublemaker on your DayZ server? You can kick or ban them straight from the server Console using RCON, or ban them manually by adding their SteamID64 to your server's ban list. Here's how to do both.
Finding a Player's Number and GUID
DayZ uses BattlEye's RCON, which identifies players by a player number and a BattlEye GUID rather than their name. Player numbers change every time someone joins, so always check the list first.
- 1Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
- 2In the sidebar, go to
Console. - 3Type
playersand pressEnter.
This lists everyone connected with their player number, IP, ping, BattlEye GUID and name. Note down the number and GUID of the player you want to kick or ban.
Kicking a Player
Kicking removes a player from your server, but they can rejoin straight away.
- 1Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
- 2In the sidebar, go to
Console. - 3Type
kick [player #] [reason]and pressEnter. The reason is optional and is shown to the player.
Example: kick 5 Building inside the military zone
Banning a Player With RCON
Banning a Connected Player
Use ban to remove a player who is on your server right now and stop them from coming back.
- 1Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
- 2In the sidebar, go to
Console. - 3Type
ban [player #] [minutes] [reason]and pressEnter. Leave the time out or set it to0for a permanent ban.
Example: ban 7 1440 Combat logging bans player 7 for 24 hours.
Banning a Player Who Has Left
If the player has already left, use addBan with their BattlEye GUID instead. You can get the GUID from the players list while they're online.
- 1Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
- 2In the sidebar, go to
Console. - 3Type
addBan [GUID] [minutes] [reason]and pressEnter. Leave the time out or set it to0for a permanent ban.
Example: addBan 4d2c8f19a6b34e57c0d19f8b2a3e6c74 0 Cheating
Note
addBan takes a BattlEye GUID or an IP address, not a SteamID64. If you only have a player's SteamID64, use the manual method below instead.
Removing an RCON Ban
- 1Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
- 2In the sidebar, go to
Console. - 3Type
bansand pressEnterto list every ban with its ban number. - 4Type
removeBan [ban #]and pressEnter.
Example: removeBan 3
Banning a Player Manually With Their SteamID64
DayZ also has its own ban list, ban.txt, which bans players by their SteamID64. This is handy when you know a player's Steam profile but they aren't online and you don't have their BattlEye GUID.
Note
ban.txt is DayZ's own ban list and sits in the main folder of your server. It's separate from the BattlEye ban list that the RCON commands above use.
To unban someone, delete their SteamID64 from ban.txt and restart your server.
