How to Kick or Ban Players on Your DayZ Server

Here is how to kick and ban disruptive players on your DayZ server. You can use BattlEye RCON commands from the server Console, or add a player's DayZ player ID to the ban.txt file by hand.

Kicking a Player

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Console.
  3. 3
Type players and press Enter to list everyone connected with their player number.
  4. 4
Type kick [player #] [reason] and press Enter. For example:
kick 5 Building inside the military zone

A kicked player can rejoin straight away. Ban them if you want to keep them off your server.

Banning a Connected Player

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Console.
  3. 3
Type players and press Enter to get the player's number.
  4. 4
Type ban [player #] [minutes] [reason] and press Enter. For example, a 24 hour ban:
    ban 7 1440 Combat logging

Leave the time out or set it to 0 for a permanent ban. The player is kicked and their BattlEye GUID is added to the ban list.

Banning an Offline Player by BattlEye GUID

The addBan command bans a player who isn't connected, using their BattlEye GUID. The GUID is the 32 character code shown next to each player in the players list, so note it down while they're online. It is not the same as their SteamID64.

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Console.
  3. 3
Type addBan [guid] [minutes] [reason] and press Enter. For example, a permanent ban:
    addBan 4d2c8f19a6b34e57c0d19f8b2a3e6c74 0 Cheating

addBan also accepts an IP address in place of a GUID.

Banning a Player Manually with ban.txt

You can also ban a player by adding their DayZ player ID to DayZ's own ban.txt file in your server's main folder. This works whether or not the player is online.

The DayZ player ID is a 44 character code that ends in =. It is not the same as their SteamID64 or their BattlEye GUID. You can find it in your server's admin log:

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Files and open the profiles folder.
  3. 3
Open the newest .ADM file and search for the player's name.
  4. 4
Copy the ID shown after id= on that player's line, including the = at the end.

Then add the ID to ban.txt:

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Files.
  3. 3
In the main folder, open ban.txt. If it doesn't exist yet, click New, select New File, and name it ban.txt when you save it.
  4. 4
Add the player's DayZ player ID on its own line. For multiple players, add each ID on a new line:
    Xq3vT8nKz1LmP0aYc5RbW7eHj2GdUf4sNo9iEk6pQtA=
    Hb7Wn2kRx5JcV1mLz8TqY4pGd0SaFe3uNi6oKj9rCwE=

  5. 5
    Save the file.
  6. 6
    Start your server.

beserver_x64.cfg

serverDZ.cfg

Note

ban.txt is DayZ's ban list and uses DayZ player IDs. BattlEye keeps its own list of GUID bans in battleye/bans.txt, which is where the ban and addBan commands save to. You don't need to edit that file by hand.

Unbanning a Player

For bans made with ban or addBan:

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Console.
  3. 3
Type bans and press Enter to list every ban with its ban number.
  4. 4
Type removeBan [ban #] and press Enter. For example:
    removeBan 3

For bans in ban.txt, Stop your server, delete the player's line from ban.txt in Files, save the file, then start your server.

Tip

See our RCON guide for the full list of BattlEye commands you can run from the Console.
