When a player joins without one of your custom maps or mods, Unreal Tournament 2004 downloads it from your server, which is slow. A download redirect sends players to a web server for those files instead, which is much faster.
Setting Up A Download Redirect
- 1Compress each custom file to a
.uz2file. You can do this with theucc compresscommand that comes with the game, or download ready-made.uz2files from the map's website. - 2Upload the
.uz2files to a web host, all in one folder. - 3Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
- 4In the sidebar, go to
Settings. - 5Under
Modding, findDownload Redirect URLand enter the web address of that folder, for examplehttp://maps.example.com/ut2004/. - 6Click
Save & Restartto apply your changes.
To send files from your server again, clear the Download Redirect URL field and click Save & Restart.
Note
The file names on the web host must match the ones on your server with .uz2 added, for example DM-MyMap.ut2.uz2.
