How to Change the Difficulty on Your Ark Survival Evolved Server

Are you looking for a relaxing experience but feeling the wrath of the game? Or does an unforgiving higher difficulty adventure best suit your needs? Here is how to change the difficulty for your Ark Survival Evolved server.

Changing the Difficulty on Your Ark Survival Evolved Server

  1. 1
Log in to the Game Host Bros Panel and stop your Ark server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, click File Manager.
  3. 3
    Navigate to /ShooterGame/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/GameUserSettings.ini.
  4. 4
Under [ServerSettings] add the lines DifficultyOffset= and OverrideOfficialDifficulty=.
  5. 5
Edit the values. The parameters for DifficultyOffset= are 0.2->1.0, with OverrideOfficialDifficulty= being 1.0->10.0.
  6. 6
    Start your server.
Tip

If you set DifficultyOffset=1.0 and OverrideOfficialDifficulty=1.0, then the max dino level will be 30. Setting OverrideOfficialDifficulty=2.0 will double it to 60, and so on.

Respawning Wild Dinos

If you don't know how to use admin commands, first follow our guide here to become an admin.

  1. 1
    Connect to your server.
  2. 2
    Open Console by pressing Tab.
  3. 3
    Type admincheat DestroyWildDinos

Now higher level Dinos will begin to spawn. It may take a while, but they'll be back stronger (or weaker) than ever!
