How To Enforce A Mod List On Your Skyrim Together Server

Mod Check makes everyone on your Skyrim Together server play with the same plugins: it turns away players whose plugins don't match your loadorder.txt, the list of .esp, .esm and .esl files your mod manager loads. Mods without a plugin, such as texture packs, aren't checked. That makes modded playthroughs more stable. You don't need it if you play without other mods, or only with Address Library for SKSE.

Getting Your loadorder.txt

Set up the mods you want everyone to use in your own mod manager, in the order you want, then find its loadorder.txt:

  • Mod Organizer 2: in your MO2 folder, open profiles and the profile you play Skyrim Together with.
  • Vortex: go to Mods, click Open... and choose Open Game Application Data Folder.

Turning On Mod Check

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Files. Create a folder named Data in the main folder if it isn't there. The capital D matters.
  3. 3
Open the Data folder and upload your loadorder.txt.
  4. 4
In the sidebar, go to Settings. Under Modding, enable Mod Check (Read Info).
  5. 5
Click Save & Restart to apply your changes.

The Console shows ModPolicy is active once the server checks players' mods. A player with different plugins gets This server has ModPolicy enabled. with the plugins to install or remove.

If Mod Check is on and there is no loadorder.txt in the Data folder, the server doesn't start and the Console says so. Upload the file, or turn Mod Check (Read Info) off.

Note

SKSE and Mod Organizer 2 users are let in or turned away by their own settings, with or without Mod Check: see Allow SKSE and Allow Mod Organizer 2.
