How To Change The Game Mode On Your Trackmania Server

Your server's game mode is set in its match settings file. It plays Time Attack by default.

Changing the Game Mode

  1. 1
    Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.
  2. 2
    In the sidebar, go to Files and open UserData/Maps/MatchSettings.
  3. 3
    Open your match settings file, example.txt unless you changed Match Settings File in Settings.
  4. 4
    Replace the mode in <script_name> with one from the table below, for example <script_name>Trackmania/TM_Rounds_Online</script_name>.
  5. 5
    Save the file and start your server.
Mode<script_name>How it plays
Time AttackTrackmania/TM_TimeAttack_OnlineDrive as many runs as you like until the time runs out. The best time wins
RoundsTrackmania/TM_Rounds_OnlineEveryone races each round and scores points by finishing position. The first player to the points limit wins
CupTrackmania/TM_Cup_OnlineLike Rounds, but reaching the points limit makes you a finalist, and a finalist has to win a race to win the cup
LapsTrackmania/TM_Laps_OnlineOne race per track on multilap tracks. The player who passes the most checkpoints wins
TeamsTrackmania/TM_Teams_OnlineRed against Blue. Players score points for their team by finishing position, and the first team to the points limit wins
KnockoutTrackmania/TM_Knockout_OnlineRounds where the last players of each race are knocked out, until one player is left

Changing the Mode's Limits

Add a <mode_script_settings> block under </gameinfos> in your match settings file, with one line per setting you want to change. For example, 10 minute Time Attack maps:

	</gameinfos>

	<mode_script_settings>
		<setting name="S_TimeLimit" type="integer" value="600"/>
	</mode_script_settings>
SettingModesWhat it does

S_PointsLimitRounds, Cup, TeamsPoints needed to win. Defaults: Rounds 50, Cup 100, Teams 5
S_RoundsPerMapRounds, Cup, Teams, KnockoutRounds on each track before the next one. Cup plays 5 by default
