How To Install Valheim Mods

In this guide, you will learn how to install mods and plugins on your Valheim server using BepInEx.

Using The Mod Installer Recommended

The easiest way to install mods is directly through the panel. Any dependencies listed by the mod are installed automatically, and if BepInEx isn't enabled yet, the installer will prompt you to install it.

   Log in to Bropanel and select your Valheim server.

   In the sidebar, go to Mods and open the Browse tab.

   Search for the mod you want and click Install.

   Restart your server.

Installing BepInEx

Before installing any plugins manually, you must first enable BepInEx.

   Log in to Bropanel and select your Valheim server.

   In the sidebar, go to Settings.

   Under Modding, enable the setting Enable Modding (Bepinex).

   Click Save & Restart to apply your changes.

Everything you require to install mods on your Valheim server is now configured and ready to use. BepInEx will be automatically kept up-to-date whenever your server restarts.

Manually Installing Plugins

As an alternative, you can install plugins manually. We suggest downloading them from Thunderstore. You will also need to know how to upload files to your game server.

   Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.

   Download the plugin you want from Thunderstore, right click, and extract it.

   In the sidebar, go to Files.

   Navigate to BepInEx/plugins and upload your extracted plugin folder.

   Start your server.

Troubleshooting Mods

BepInEx writes everything it loads to an output log at BepInEx/LogOutput.log. When a mod fails to work, check this file first.

   Log in to Bropanel and select your Valheim server.

   In the sidebar, go to Files.

   Open BepInEx/LogOutput.log.

   Search for your plugin name. A line like [Info : BepInEx] Loading [Warfare 1.8.4] means the plugin loaded.

   Check any [Error] or [Warning] lines to find what broke.

Most load failures come from a missing dependency or an outdated plugin. Install every dependency listed on the plugin page, and update your plugins after each game update.
