Managing player permissions, including granting administrative privileges or banning players, is essential for maintaining a healthy gaming environment. Valheim uses a file called adminlist.txt to handle player permissions.

Setting Yourself As An Admin In Valheim

Log in to Bropanel and select your Valheim server.

In the sidebar, go to Files.

Select the .config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/ folder.

Here, find the file named adminlist.txt.

Add a new entry on its own line using the prefix for the player's platform followed by their platform ID. For a Steam player it should look like this:

The prefix depends on which platform the player is on:

Tip

While connected to your server, the player list shows the platform ID of everyone online, including yourself. Open it from the pause menu on any platform, or press F2 on PC. Steam players can also look up their SteamID64 online.

Enabling Console

The Valheim in-game console is disabled by default, here are the steps to enable console if you wish to use admin commands while playing on your server.

right-click Valheim and enter properties.

Type -console in launch options.

Close the window and start your game.

Using Admin Commands

After setting yourself as admin and adding -console as a launch option you'll now be able to open and use the in-game console, here's how.
