Valheim difficulty settings are controlled through World Modifiers, which let you adjust combat difficulty, resource rates, death penalties, raid frequency, and portal restrictions. This guide shows you how to change difficulty settings on your Valheim server and how to reset them if needed.
Changing World Modifiers
- 1Log in to the Game Host Bros Panel and stop your server.
- 2In the sidebar, go to
Server Options. - 3Find the World Modifier setting you want to adjust from the drop down menus.
- Combat
- Resources
- Death Penalty
- Raid Rate
- Portals
- 4Restart your server.
Valheim itself has issues with changing existing World Modifiers, to reset your existing World Modifiers follow the steps below.
Resetting World Modifiers
If you'd like to change existing World Modifiers you may need to follow these steps, here's how it's done.
We always recommend making a Backup before making any major changes.
- 1Enable console, then connect to your server as an admin following our Valheim Admin Guide
- 2Open console with
f5. - 3Type
devcommands.- You should see devcommands = true.
- 4Enter these commands,
setworldpreset defaultand thensave.
Press f1 and you'll now see that your World Modifiers have been cleared.
setworldpreset defaultwill clear your existing world modifiers;savewill initiate a save of your server.
Once done, refer to the above steps here to set new World Modifiers.
