How To Set Up A Download Redirect On Your Quake II Server

Your server already has FastDL, which sends custom maps to players over the web automatically. If you'd rather host those files on your own web server, set a download redirect instead.

Setting Up A Download Redirect

  1. 1
On your web host, create a folder named after your game mode's folder (openffa for Deathmatch, opentdm for Team Deathmatch, ctf for Capture the Flag or baseq2 for Cooperative), and upload your custom files into it with the same folders as on your server, for example openffa/maps/mymap.bsp.
  2. 2
Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
  3. 3
In the sidebar, go to Settings.
  4. 4
Under Modding, find Download Redirect URL and enter the web address of the folder that holds your game mode's folder, for example http://maps.example.com/q2.
  5. 5
Click Save & Restart to apply your changes.

To go back to the built-in FastDL, clear the Download Redirect URL field and click Save & Restart.

Note

Players download from the folder named after the game mode, even for maps you uploaded to baseq2 on your server.
