How To Add Custom Maps To Your Quake II Server

The Quake II community has made thousands of maps over the years. Here's how to add them to your server.

Uploading Custom Maps

  1. 1
Download the map and unzip it. You need its .bsp file, plus any textures, env or sound folders that came with it.
  2. 2
Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.
  3. 3
In the sidebar, go to Files.
  4. 4
Open the baseq2 folder, then the maps folder (create it if it isn't there), and upload the .bsp file. Upload any extra folders into baseq2 as they are.
  5. 5
    Start your server.

Maps in baseq2 work in every game mode. To play the map, add its name to your Map Rotation or set it as your Starting Map. The map name is the .bsp file name without .bsp, for example ztn2dm1.

Note

Players who don't have the map download it automatically when they join, through your server's built-in FastDL.
