How To Set Reserved Slots On Your Quake Live Server

Reserved slots keep part of your Quake Live server free for you and your friends, so you can still get in when the server is full. Anyone who knows the reserved slot password can use them.

Setting Reserved Slots

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Files.
  3. 3
Open the baseq3 folder, then open server.cfg.
  4. 4
Find the sv_privateClients and sv_privatePassword lines and change them to the number of slots and the password you want. If they aren't in the file, add them at the end.
  5. 5
Save the file and Start your server.
set sv_privateClients "2"
set sv_privatePassword "yourpassword"

Reserved slots only work while your server has no Server Password, so leave that setting empty. Players can only enter one password, and the reserved slot password doesn't get them past a server password.

Reserved slots come out of your max players. With Max Players at 16 and 2 reserved slots, 14 slots are open to the public.

Joining A Reserved Slot

Before you connect, open the console with the ~ key and type /set password "yourpassword" using your reserved slot password. Then connect to your server as usual and the game puts you in a reserved slot.
