How To Set Up A Download Redirect On Your Unreal Server

When a player joins without one of your custom maps or mods, Unreal downloads it from your server, which is slow. A download redirect sends players to a web server for those files instead, which is much faster.

Setting Up A Download Redirect

  1. 1
Compress each custom file to a .uz file. You can do this with the ucc compress command that comes with the game, or download ready-made .uz files from the map's website.
  2. 2
Upload the .uz files to a web host, all in one folder.
  3. 3
Log in to Bropanel and select your server.
  4. 4
In the sidebar, go to Settings.
  5. 5
Under Modding, find Download Redirect URL and enter the web address of that folder, for example http://maps.example.com/unreal/.
  6. 6
Click Save & Restart to apply your changes.

To send files from your server again, clear the Download Redirect URL field and click Save & Restart.

Note

The file names on the web host must match the ones on your server with .uz added, for example DmMyMap.unr.uz.
