How To Connect To Your Unreal Server

Here is how you can join your Unreal dedicated server. Your server runs OldUnreal's 227 patch, which works with players on the last official version (226, the version Steam and GOG sell) and on OldUnreal's patch.

Your gameCan join?
Unreal or Unreal Gold 224, 225 or 226 (Steam, GOG or a patched CD)Yes
OldUnreal 227 patch or the free OldUnreal installerYes, recommended
Unreal 200 to 220 (an unpatched CD)No, update your game first

Tip

If you don't own the game anymore, OldUnreal offers Unreal Gold for free with Epic's approval. Get it from oldunreal.com.

Connecting From the Server Browser

  1. 1
Open Unreal and go to Multiplayer > Find Internet Games.
  2. 2
Pick the tab for the game type your server runs, for example DeathMatch or Coop, or use All Servers.
  3. 3
Find your server name in the list. Click a column header to sort if the list is long.
  4. 4
Double-click your server to join. If you set a server password, enter it when asked.

Note

It can take a few minutes for a new server to appear in the server browser after it starts. Players on 226 or older may not see it in the list, because the game still points at the old GameSpy master server. Installing OldUnreal's 227 patch fixes that, and joining by IP always works.

Connecting With the IP Address

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and select your Unreal server.
  2. 2
Copy the server IP address and port from the Overview page, for example 123.45.67.89:7777.
  3. 3
Open Unreal and go to Multiplayer > Open Location.
  4. 4
Enter unreal://123.45.67.89:7777 with your own IP and port, then click OK.

If your server has a password, add it to the end like this: unreal://123.45.67.89:7777?password=yourpassword.

Tip

You can also press Tab, type open 123.45.67.89:7777 and press Enter.
