Your Don't Starve Together server can run mods from the Steam Workshop. You list the mods you want in a file called modoverrides.lua, and the server downloads them and keeps them up to date every time it starts. Players don't need to install anything: their game downloads the mods it needs when they join.
Finding A Mod's Workshop ID
Open the mod's page on the Don't Starve Together Steam Workshop. The Workshop ID is the number at the end of the page address. For https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=378160973, it is 378160973.
Installing Mods
- 1Log in to Bropanel and
Stopyour server. - 2In the sidebar, go to
Filesand navigate toDoNotStarveTogether/config/server/Master. - 3Open
modoverrides.lua. If it doesn't exist yet, clickNew, thenNew File. - 4List each mod as
workshop-followed by its Workshop ID, for example:return { ["workshop-378160973"] = { enabled = true }, ["workshop-375859599"] = { enabled = true }, } - 5Click
Save. For a new file, clickCreate, name itmodoverrides.luaand clickSave. - 6Start your server.
The first start after adding a mod takes a little longer while the server downloads it. The Console shows a Loading mod: line for each mod. The Caves use the same mods as the surface world.
To remove a mod, delete its line, or change enabled = true to enabled = false, then restart your server.
Changing Mod Options
Some mods have options, such as which features to turn on. Add them to the mod's line under configuration_options:
return {
["workshop-378160973"] = {
enabled = true,
configuration_options = { option_name = "value" },
},
}
After the first start, each mod's option names and values are listed in its modinfo.lua, in ugc_mods/server/Master/content/322330/<Workshop ID>.
Tip
The easiest way to pick mods and their options is in the game. Create a world with your mods turned on and set up, then copy modoverrides.lua from that world's Master folder on your PC to your server. See Upload World for where to find it.
