FastDL lets players download your custom maps, models, materials and sounds over the web instead of through the slow in-game download. It is set up for you: upload your custom content and start the server.

How FastDL Works

Every time the server starts, it publishes the maps in empires/maps and the files in empires/materials, models, sound, particles and resource (and the same folders inside empires/custom/<addon>/).
The server tells players' games where to download them, so nothing needs to be set in server.cfg.

Adding A Custom Map

Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.

In the sidebar, go to Files.

Navigate to empires/maps and upload the map's .bsp file. Put any materials, models or sounds the map needs in the matching folders under empires.

Start your server.

Using Your Own Download Server

If you host your files on your own web server, point the server at it instead.

Log in to Bropanel and select your server.

In the sidebar, go to Settings.

Under Modding, edit Download Redirect URL and enter the web address that holds your maps folder, for example https://dl.example.com/empires.

Click Save & Restart to apply your changes.

Leave Download Redirect URL empty to go back to the built-in FastDL.
