At Game Host Bros, we offer FastDL for your Unreal Gold server so players can download your custom maps and mods quickly. Everything is automatic and there is no extra configuration required on your end other than uploading your custom content.
How Does FastDL Work?
While everything is automatic, there are still some things you should know about our FastDL system:
- Custom files are compressed to
.uzfiles in/fastdl/when you start your server. Files that come with the game are skipped, since every player already has them. RedirectToURLinSystem64/UnrealLinux.iniis set to your FastDL address automatically on every start.- Files only get served to players after everything is compressed.
- FastDL works for players on OldUnreal's 227 patch. Players on version 226 (the one Steam and GOG sell) ignore it and download from the server instead, which is slower.
- You can view all the files online by opening your FastDL address, which you can find as
RedirectToURLinSystem64/UnrealLinux.ini.
