An SRV record lets players join your Minecraft server with an address like play.example.com instead of an IP and port like 111.123.144.15:27033. You need two DNS records:
- An
Arecord that points your subdomain to your server IP. - An
SRVrecord that tells Minecraft which port to use.
Enter the address you want and your server IP below. The generator builds both records with the exact field names that Cloudflare, GoDaddy and Namecheap use.

In this example, players join with play.example.com. No port needed.
How to Add Your SRV Record
- Log in to Bropanel and select your Minecraft server.
- Click
Copy addresson theOverviewpage. It looks like111.123.144.15:27033. - In the generator above, enter the address you want players to type and paste your server address.
- Pick your DNS provider in the generator.
- Log in to your DNS provider and open the DNS records for your domain.
- Add the
Arecord from the generator. Then add theSRVrecord. - Save your records. Most new records work within 30 minutes.
- In Minecraft, go to
Multiplayerand clickAdd Server. Enter your new address with no port.
How the Records Work
When a player types play.example.com, Minecraft looks for an SRV record named _minecraft._tcp.play.example.com. That record gives it a port and a target. The A record turns the target into your server IP. The player connects to 111.123.144.15:27033 without typing it.
Here are the records from the example in the generator:
| Type | Name | Points to |
|---|---|---|
A | play | 111.123.144.15 |
SRV | _minecraft._tcp.play | play.example.com on port 27033 |
The SRV name is _minecraft._tcp plus the subdomain players type. Leave your domain out of the name. Your DNS provider adds it for you.
SRV Record Fields
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Name | _minecraft._tcp plus your subdomain, like _minecraft._tcp.play. |
| Priority | 0. It matters when you have more than one SRV record for the same address. |
| Weight | 5. Like Priority, it matters when you have more than one SRV record. |
| Port | Your server port. It's the number after the colon in Bropanel. |
| Target | The full name of your A record, like play.example.com. It can't be an IP. |
| TTL | Leave the default. |
GoDaddy and Namecheap split the name into Service and Protocol boxes. The generator shows you what goes in each one.
Using Your Root Domain
Want players to type example.com with no subdomain? Enter example.com in the generator. Your root domain may point to your website. So the generator puts your server IP on a new mc subdomain and points the SRV record at it. Your website keeps working.
| Type | Name | Points to |
|---|---|---|
A | mc | 111.123.144.15 |
SRV | _minecraft._tcp | mc.example.com on port 27033 |
Bedrock Players
Bedrock Edition doesn't read SRV records. If you run Geyser for crossplay, Bedrock players fill in the address and port themselves:
- Server Address: the name from your A record, like
play.example.com. - Port: the Bedrock port you set in Geyser's
config.yml.
Troubleshooting
Players Still Need the Port
- Give it time. Some internet providers hold on to old DNS answers for up to an hour.
- Check the SRV
Name. It must start with_minecraft._tcpand keep both underscores. - Check that the SRV name ends with the subdomain players type.
_minecraft._tcpon its own coversexample.com, notplay.example.com. - Check that the SRV
Portmatches the port in Bropanel.
Players Can't Connect
- In Cloudflare, set the A record's
Proxy statustoDNS only. An orange cloud sends players to Cloudflare instead of your server. - Check that the A record IP matches the IP in Bropanel.
- Moved your server to a new location in Bropanel? Your IP changes and your port can change too. Update both records to match.
Target Must Be a Hostname
Your DNS provider won't accept an IP as the SRV target. Add the A record first. Then use its full name as the target, like play.example.com.
Check Your SRV Record
Open Command Prompt on Windows or Terminal on Mac and run this command. Replace play.example.com with your address.
nslookup -type=SRV _minecraft._tcp.play.example.com
If the result shows your port and target, the record works.
