How To Add Custom Maps To Your Xonotic Server

Xonotic has plenty of community maps. Here's how to add them to your server.

Uploading Custom Maps

  1. 1
Download the map. You need its .pk3 file; unzip it first if it came in a .zip.
  2. 2
Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.
  3. 3
In the sidebar, go to Files.
  4. 4
Open the data folder and upload the .pk3 file.
  5. 5
    Start your server.

Choosing The Maps In The Rotation

By default your server plays every map it has that supports the current game mode, so an uploaded map joins the rotation automatically after a restart. Players can also vote for it at the end of a match.

To play only certain maps, list them yourself. The map name is the .bsp file inside the maps folder of the .pk3, for example mymap.

  1. 1
Log in to Bropanel and Stop your server.
  2. 2
In the sidebar, go to Files.
  3. 3
Open the data folder and then server.cfg.
  4. 4
Find the g_maplist line, remove the // at its start, and list the maps you want separated by spaces, for example g_maplist "mymap stormkeep warfare".
  5. 5
Save the file and start your server.

To go back to every map, put // back at the start of the g_maplist line.

Note

Players who don't have the map download it automatically when they join, through your server's built-in FastDL.
