Here is how you can join your OpenTTD dedicated server. OpenTTD is free from openttd.org and on Steam.
Note
Your game must be the same OpenTTD version as the server. The server installs the newest stable release when it restarts (see Automatic Updates), so keep your game up to date. Steam updates OpenTTD for you.
Connecting From The Server List
- 1Open OpenTTD and click
Multiplayer. - 2Click
Search internetto load the list of public servers. - 3Type your server name in the filter box at the top.
- 4Select your server and click
Join game. If you set a server password, enter it when asked. - 5You join as a spectator. Open
Online playersfrom the toolbar and click(New company)to start your own company, or join a company that's already playing.
Note
It can take a few minutes for a new server to appear in the list after it starts. Joining by IP always works.
Connecting With The IP Address
- 1Log in to Bropanel and select your OpenTTD server.
- 2Copy the server IP address and port from the
Overviewpage, for example123.45.67.89:3979. - 3Open OpenTTD and click
Multiplayer. - 4Click
Add server, enter your IP address and port, then clickOK. - 5Select your server in the list and click
Join game.
If your server has a password, OpenTTD asks for it when you join.
