A whitelist lets you choose exactly who can join your Valheim server. Valheim uses a file called permittedlist.txt for this. It works the same way as adding admins: one player ID per line.
Whitelisting Players In Valheim
- Log in to Bropanel and select your Valheim server.
- In the sidebar, go to
Files. - Select the
.config/unity3d/IronGate/Valheim/folder. - Here, find the file named
permittedlist.txt. - Add each player on their own line using the prefix for their platform followed by their platform ID. For two Steam players it should look like this:
V_76561198106341655 V_76561198012345678 - Restart your server.
.config
unity3d
IronGate
Valheim
permittedlist.txt
The prefix depends on which platform the player is on:
| Platform | Prefix | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Steam | V_ | V_SteamID64 |
| Xbox / Game Pass | X_ | X_XUID |
| Nintendo | N_ | N_ID |
| PlayStation 5 | S_ | S_ID |
Removing Players From The Whitelist
To remove a player, delete their line from permittedlist.txt and restart your server.
To open your server to everyone again, delete every line so the file is empty, then restart.
